January 7, 2025. Police are looking for more information regarding an incident that happened at about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 7) in the 1800-block of Orme Street.
Details: A suspect came out of a home, approached the victim who was standing at the corner of Orme Street and Quilchena Avenue and shot the victim in the leg. The suspect, who was dressed in black, then ran south on Orme Street before heading east down the alley between Quilchena and Coutlee Avenues. It is believed that the suspect and victim are known to each other and that the incident was targeted.
Anyone with further information on the incident, including surveillance or dashcam video capturing either the shooting or the suspect running away, is asked to contact Merritt RCMP at (250) 378-4262. Police File # 2025-107
December 16, 2024. Two masked men in all-black entered the barbershop located at Voght and Walters Street and proceeded to assault the victim. These suspects then fled on foot to a four door white 2017 Kia Sportage that was parked on Irvine Ave. They were last seen fleeing the city on River Ranch Road. RCMP believe this was a targeted assault and are asking for anyone with information to contact them at 250-378-4262. If you have information and want to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers.
June 4th, 2024. Shortly before 2am, a suspect entered the 7-eleven convenience store at the corner of Nicola Avenue and Voght Street. He brandished a knife and made off with cash from the register. Police would like to identify the suspect.
Description: approximately five foot-seven tall, skinny, weighing 160 lbs. The suspect was wearing a distinct blue hoodie with an Indigenous headdress logo on it, blue jeans, and a paintball mask.

In the early morning hours of December 2, 2023 a speed sign was stolen from the 2300 block of Coldwater Ave in Merritt.
